Terms of Service
Version 2026-11-05 · Effective 2026-11-05
These terms are an agreement between you and Shift Connect Solutions Limited (“Scon”, “we”, “us”) for the use of the Scon platform and the services ordered through it. By creating an account, ticking the consent box at sign-up, or using a service, you accept them. If you are acting for a company, you confirm you can bind that company.
1. Your account
You must give accurate details (name, email, phone, country and, where relevant, company) and keep them current. Your email or phone number is your identity on the platform; keep your password and any authenticator private and tell us at once if you believe someone else has used your account. You are responsible for everything done through your account, including by team members you invite.
One person may hold more than one account (for example, for different companies). Accounts created with Google sign-in are subject to these terms in the same way, and a new account cannot be created through Google without giving the same consent.
2. The services
Scon provides cloud servers, managed websites, custom business systems, dedicated network services (such as authentication and remote-access services) and technical support, as described in the dashboard when you order them. We may improve, change or retire features; where a change materially reduces a service you pay for, we will tell you in advance through your dashboard or email.
Work that we build for you (a website or a business system) is delivered against the scope agreed in writing in your request or change request. Changes to scope go through the change-request process and may affect price or timing.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use any Scon service to:
- break the law of any country where you, your users or we operate, including laws on fraud, intellectual property, privacy and electronic communications;
- send spam, bulk unsolicited messages, or run phishing, malware, botnets, denial-of-service attacks or port scanning against anyone;
- host or distribute material that is defamatory, incites violence or hatred, or sexually exploits children;
- mine cryptocurrency, resell raw capacity, or run workloads that intentionally degrade other customers’ services;
- attempt to access accounts, data or systems that are not yours, or to bypass usage limits, security controls or billing.
We may suspend a service immediately where we reasonably believe it is being used in breach of this section, and we will tell you why.
4. Billing and payment
Prices are quoted and invoiced in US dollars (USD). Where we display an amount in your local currency, it is an estimate shown for convenience together with the exchange rate used; the USD invoice amount is what is due. Your bank or payment provider may apply its own fees or rates.
Subscriptions renew for the period shown on the subscription until cancelled. Invoices are due on the date shown on them. If an invoice stays unpaid after its due date we may send reminders, restrict new orders, and after reasonable notice suspend the related service (see section 6). Taxes, where applicable by law, are shown on the invoice as separate lines.
Refunds are given where we failed to provide a service we charged for, calculated from the time the failure was reported, and otherwise at our discretion.
5. Your data and ours
You own the data you store on your servers, websites and systems. You grant us only the rights needed to host, back up, secure, support and deliver the services. We own the platform, our tooling, our brand assets (including the Scon name, logo and the “scon business” and “scon enterprise” badges) and any generic components we reuse across customers.
Websites and systems built by Scon carry a small Scon badge unless we agree otherwise in writing; the badge links to our site and must not be altered or removed while the service is active.
How we handle personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
6. Suspension, cancellation and retention
You can cancel a service from your dashboard at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period unless you ask us to stop it sooner. We may suspend a service for unpaid invoices (after notice), for breach of section 3, where required by law, or to protect the platform or other customers.
Retention: after a service is cancelled or an account is closed, we keep its data for 30 days so that it can be restored if the cancellation was a mistake. After 30 days the data, including backups that belong only to that service, is deleted and cannot be recovered. Invoices, payment records and audit entries are kept for as long as accounting and legal rules require.
7. Support and service levels
Support is available through the dashboard (tickets and chat), through the public link of the engineer assigned to you, and by email at support@scon.ug. We aim to respond to every request promptly and to restore interrupted services as quickly as we reasonably can. Planned maintenance is announced on your dashboard in advance where possible. Any specific uptime or response commitment applies only if it is written on your subscription or in a signed agreement.
8. Warranties and liability
We provide the services with reasonable skill and care. Except for that, the services are provided “as is” and we do not promise that they will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim in a 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for the affected service in that period, and neither of us is liable for indirect losses such as lost profits or lost data where you did not keep your own copies.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version and effective date are shown at the top of this page and recorded against your account when you accept them. For material changes we will notify you through your dashboard or email at least 14 days before they take effect; continuing to use the services after that date means you accept the new version.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda, and the courts of Uganda have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any consumer rights you have under the laws of the country where you live. Before going to court, both of us agree to try in good faith to resolve any dispute through our support channels first.
